A touching video has gone viral on social media after showing the moment a mother surprises her son in Cuba with a visit after being apart for a long time.

In the images shared on TikTok by the user @mara15890, the woman is seen arriving at the young man's house at night, and upon seeing her, he can't contain his excitement.

However, the scene has a detail that makes it even more symbolic: a locked gate separates them for several seconds, preventing them from embracing immediately.

Amidst laughter, nerves, and tears, the young man tries to unlock the padlock while his mother watches him. Finally, after several attempts, he manages to open the door, and they envelop each other in an embrace filled with love and nostalgia—the kind of embrace that carries the weight of the years spent apart and the distance imposed by emigration.

The video has generated thousands of reactions and comments from users who relate to the scene, many of them Cubans living far from their loved ones. “Only those who have had to leave their family in Cuba know how it feels,” wrote a moved internet user.

In recent years, family separations have become one of the deepest wounds for the Cuban people, due to the increasing emigration caused by the economic and social crisis affecting the island. Behind every reunion like this, there is a story of sacrifices, longings, and unbreakable love.

The video ends with both of them embraced, crying and laughing at the same time, a true portrait of what it means to be Cuban in times of farewells and reunions.
