The Cuban Electric Union (UNE) reported that the maximum impact due to a generation capacity deficit on October 22 was 1,818 MW at 7:10 PM. This figure was higher than planned due to the unavailability of units 3 in Santa Cruz and 3 in Renté.

The energy production from the 32 new photovoltaic solar parks was 2,901 MWh, with a maximum power output of 539 MW.

The availability of the SEN this Thursday at 06:00 hours was 1,550 MW, while the demand was 2,526 MW, with 1,043 MW affected by a capacity shortfall.

Unit 2 of the Felton CTE, Unit 3 of the Santa Cruz CTE, Unit 8 of Mariel, and Unit 6 of the Renté CTE are out of service due to breakdowns. Additionally, Unit 2 of the Santa Cruz CTE, Unit 4 of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes CTE in Cienfuegos, and Unit 6 of the Diez de Octubre CTE in Nuevitas are undergoing maintenance.

The country also faces limitations in thermal generation, with 417 MW out of service, and issues persist due to a lack of fuel in 72 distributed generation plants totaling 658 MW, as well as a shortage of lubricants which has rendered another 158 MW unavailable.

During peak hours, the entry of unit 3 of the CTE Santa Cruz is expected to be 45 MW, which would leave a availability of 1,595 MW and a maximum demand of 3,320 MW, resulting in a deficit of 1,725 MW. Therefore, if the anticipated conditions persist, a shortfall of 1,795 MW is forecasted during this time.

The Electric Company of Havana indicated that on Wednesday, its peak impact was 174MW at 7:10 PM. Service was restored at 4:02 AM.

The crisis of blackouts in Cuba persists, pushing Cubans to the brink of their daily endurance.
