The Cuban singer Eduardo Antonio is going through one of the most painful moments of his life following the death of his mother, Olguita, in Cuba, due to dengue. The artist, known as El Divo de Placetas, shared an emotional message on his social media to bid farewell to the woman who, in his words, was his guide and his greatest inspiration.

"Thank you to all my friends and followers who have been concerned about my mother's health. Unfortunately, Cuba is currently experiencing a dengue pandemic, which has taken my mother's life today", wrote Eduardo Antonio.

Mom, you will be the most painful and bittersweet goodbye I have ever experienced. Thank you for every minute you gave me, for all your guidance and values. I know that in heaven you will continue to guide and accompany me with your light and beautiful energy. Save me a little spot by your side and Dad's. Say hello to my girl Claudia and my aunt Reina. For the day that I must depart, cuddle me and let me tell you how difficult it was to be without you.

Visibly affected, Eduardo Antonio confessed the deep void left by his mother's passing, but he assured that he will move forward with the strength she taught him: “I love you, my mother, forever and I will remain here with your love and your joy. I will need a lot of strength to keep going, as I never imagined the pain I feel today could be so dark and profound. I promise not to disappoint you, neither as a man nor as an artist. I will always give my best as you taught me to continue being your pride by shining as an artist and being loved by my audience."

The singer also recalled that his mother was always proud of his achievements on stage and that her greatest joy was seeing him succeed in front of the audience.

Your greatest medicine has always been my triumph and the applause of my audience, that same audience to which I now ask for their support and to whom I will continue singing with a tight chest but with more love and more strength than ever. Your blessing will always be my starting point; you will forever live in my heart, Olguita my beautiful mother, he expressed with deep sorrow.

Despite the sadness that overwhelms him, Eduardo Antonio announced that he will not cancel his upcoming performances and will continue singing in honor of his mother.

In statements to CiberCuba, Roy García, the artist's husband, explained that Eduardo Antonio has been unable to travel to the island to say goodbye to his mother due to the limited flight availability.

The artist has received numerous expressions of affection from his followers, colleagues, and friends, who have shown their support during this time of deep sorrow.
