The Argentine president Javier Milei achieved a resounding victory in the legislative elections this Sunday, garnering 40.8% of the votes, which solidifies 'La Libertad Avanza' as the leading political force in the country.

The victory, described by the leader as "epic," gives him 93 representatives and 19 senators, a historic leap compared to the 37 and 6 he had until now.

The result was especially significant in the province of Buenos Aires, where Milei reversed the defeat suffered two months ago against Peronism, and also in key districts such as Córdoba, Mendoza, Entre Ríos, and Santa Fe, where the far-right gained substantial advantages.

"Today the people decided to leave behind 100 years of decline. Today begins the construction of a great Argentina," declared a visibly euphoric Milei before thousands of supporters in Buenos Aires. In a tone more moderate than usual, he invited the "rational" opposition to join in building legislative agreements.

The president thanked each of his ministers individually and announced that, starting December 10, the Argentine Congress would be "the most reformist in history." Among his priorities, he mentioned the need to reach agreements with provincial governors and to maintain economic stability after months of turbulence.

Peronism, for its part, suffered an unprecedented defeat, securing only 31.7% of the votes and losing in 18 out of 24 provinces. The governor of Buenos Aires and Kirchnerist leader Axel Kicillof acknowledged the results and called to "defend social rights against the advance of the right."

The support of Donald Trump, who congratulated Milei on his “overwhelming victory,” was seen as a demonstration of Washington's alignment with Buenos Aires. The United States has been crucial in the financial rescue that is keeping the Argentine economy afloat.

Analysts indicate that Milei will now need to demonstrate management skills and build bridges with other political sectors. “His challenge is to ensure governability and maintain the confidence of the markets,” stated political scientist Patricio Giusto to El País.

With this result, Milei consolidates his leadership and strengthens his libertarian project, while Argentina enters a new political stage marked by polarization and uncertainty.
