Drunk or drugged youths blocked a public transport bus in Havana for over twenty minutes near Central Park on Monday morning.

Young people blocked the bus for “fun,” reported the independent media CubaNet, which shared a video of the incident.

During the blockade, they laid on the pavement, performed acrobatics, and engaged in sexual acts in the middle of the street, according to information from CubaNet, which asserts that a police officer approached the scene but was unable to stop them.

Finally, the group that was blocking the bus moved away of their own accord.

Social indiscipline and vandalism mark the daily life of the Cuban capital, another symptom of the decay and structural crisis that the Cuban people are suffering.

In August, Havana was once again the scene of an incident that jeopardizes the safety of passengers and public transport workers.

The Provincial Transport Company reported that a bus on the P11 route was stoned in the morning in the XI Festival area, in Alamar, causing a break in a window in the passenger area.

Around the same time, another city bus was targeted by a stone throw on Boyeros Avenue, near the Sports City, while operating the P12 route. On that occasion, a window in the passenger area was also damaged.

The same transportation company described the incident as "deplorable" and warned that these attacks undermine the quality of life of citizens.

In the past year, several episodes of violence and vandalism against public transportation have been reported in the Cuban capital.

At the end of July, a minibus was stoned with passengers on board. A few days earlier, a driver was threatened with a knife while on duty.

The recurrence of these events suggests an upward trend in violent actions against public property that, in addition to causing material damage, instill fear and uncertainty among citizens.
