An emotional reunion between a mother and her daughter in Cuba has touched the hearts of thousands of users on social media, after a video went viral on TikTok showing the elderly woman, startled by the unexpected visit, nearly stumbling as she sees what appears to be her daughter after years without being able to embrace her.
The moment, shared by user @anapolo917, shows the lady walking down a street when she suddenly encounters a blonde woman getting out of a car.
As soon as she recognizes her, she brings her hands to her head, staggers, and bursts into tears before enveloping her in a long embrace filled with emotion and tears.
The images reflect the harshness of family dislocation experienced by thousands of Cubans separated by migration. Many identified with the scene and left messages filled with nostalgia in the comments:
"Like this Cuba, I long to embrace my mom and dad whom I haven't seen in many years. I always ask God to keep them strong and healthy so that when the long-awaited moment comes, I can enjoy them as they deserve," wrote a user.
