The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced on Thursday a new set of radical immigration measures that would include the revocation of citizenship for naturalized immigrants who, in his view, “undermine national security” or “are not a net gain for the country.”
The announcement was shared by the official account of the White House (@WhiteHouse) and reiterated by the president himself on his personal account, in a message posted on the occasion of Thanksgiving.
"We will denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and we will deport any foreigner who is a public charge, a security risk, or incompatible with Western civilization," wrote Trump.
The leader asserted that he will permanently suspend migration from "all Third World countries", with the aim of "allowing the American system to fully recover."
He also promised to end the millions of "illegal" admissions approved during Joe Biden's presidency and prevent non-citizens from accessing federal benefits.
"We will remove anyone who is not a net asset for the United States or who is unable to love our country. Only a reverse migration can heal this situation," the leader added.
The president argued that the immigration policy of the last few decades has "eroded the technological and economic progress" of the country and attributed the mass immigration to "failures in education, rising crime, overcrowded hospitals, and increasing deficits."
"The American people, out of their nobility, have allowed their country to be divided, invaded, and looted by political correctness and stupidity. That is over," wrote Trump.
In his message, Trump directly targeted the state of Minnesota and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, accusing them of "betraying Americans" due to their immigration policies. Analysts described his statements as xenophobic and dangerous.
The statements sparked criticism from human rights organizations and democratic leaders, who warned that the proposed measures would violate the Constitution and the 14th Amendment, which guarantees citizenship to all naturalized persons in the country.
“Selective denaturalization based on political or ideological criteria would be a blatant violation of equality before the law,” warned the ACLU.
Analysts indicate that Trump's rhetoric is hardening as he seeks to consolidate support from the ultraconservative Republican wing ahead of the 2026 elections.
Since his return to power, Trump has promoted a "Zero Migration" program that includes expanded detention centers, accelerated deportations, and a complete closure of the southern border. His new policies aim to "reverse migration" and "recover American identity."
"Only those who love the United States will remain here. Those who hate, steal, or destroy what this country represents will not be here for long," concluded Trump.
