A Cuban woman has touched many on social media by showcasing in a video the terrible conditions in which she lived in Cuba, before being able to move to a slightly better place on the island.
The video, posted on TikTok by the user @mariela.suarez770, begins with the woman walking towards a small wooden house, surrounded by plants and dirt land. "I'm showing you where I lived in Cuba," she wrote about the images.
In the clip, the Cuban woman shows the interior of what she calls her "little house," made with old planks, a zinc roof, and a firewood stove where she cooked daily.
"I lived here for many years, here I cooked with firewood quite a bit," she said with resignation as she walked around the place.
Despite still living in Cuba, the woman assured that she has moved past that very precarious place, where she went through a difficult period of her life marked by scarcity and the poor housing conditions experienced by thousands of Cuban families.
The video has generated numerous supportive comments, with users highlighting the resilience of the Cuban people in the face of poverty and state neglect.
On the island, the housing crisis has worsened in recent years, with thousands of dilapidated homes at risk of collapse, while the communist regime continues to offer no real solutions to the population.
