A Cuban resident in Miami has caused a sensation on social media after sharing a video of herself walking with her unusual pet on her shoulder: a sugar glider, a small marsupial native to Oceania that many confuse with a squirrel.

The clip, posted on TikTok by the user @yaisen_v, shows the young woman walking through the streets of the city while her “squirrel,” as she calls it, remains still on her shoulder.

"Just as I walk around with my squirrel, you can walk around with yours; the only thing you need to do is earn that little animal's trust," the Cuban explained in the video, where she also stated that her pet is "obsessive" about her.

The young woman mentioned that her bond with her sugar glider is based on patience and dedication, and she never worries about the animal jumping or wandering off, as it faithfully accompanies her on all her walks.

The curious video has caught the attention of hundreds of users, who were surprised by the calmness of the small animal and the apparent affection between them.

Sugar gliders, although not native to America, have become popular as exotic pets in some countries due to their cute appearance and sociable behavior, though they require special care and a suitable environment for their well-being.
