The Texas Police are offering a $8,500 reward for information that leads to the capture of William Herrera Zamora, a Cuban convicted of child sexual abuse, who is included among the 10 most wanted illegal immigrants in that southern U.S. state.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) published a missing person notice on social media this Tuesday for an immigrant from Cuba, whom they referred to as “the notable fugitive child predator of December.”
Herrera Zamora is being sought for indecent acts with a minor through sexual contact and for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
The police consider him armed and dangerous, and warned that for this reason no one should attempt to stop him.
A detailed statement published by DPS on their website indicates that the Cuban fugitive, aged 63, has been wanted in Tarrant County since June 2022, when the Grapevine Police Department issued an arrest warrant for him for indecency with a minor through sexual contact.
Weeks later, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a warrant for violation of his parole.
On January 3, 2023, the Fort Worth Police Department issued arrest warrants against the Cuban for two counts of failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
But for years prior, Herrera Zamora already had a criminal record. In January 2019, he was convicted on 10 counts of possession of child pornography, with the intent to promote it. Subsequently, he was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) facility.
According to the report from the state police, the Cuban was granted parole by the TDCJ in January 2021. He was then taken into custody by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and some time later, he was allowed to reside in Fort Worth.
Herrera Zamora is 1.75 meters (5’9’’) tall and weighs 160 pounds (approximately 72 kilograms). He has a tattoo on the upper part of his left arm, a scar on his abdomen, and is known to wear glasses, the DPS specified.
The reward for information leading to the arrest of the fugitive increases to $8,500 during December if the tip is received in the same month, the statement indicated.
Authorities requested that anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Herrera Zamora notify them through the direct line of Crime Stoppers at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
People can also use two other ways to provide information about him or any of the 10 most wanted fugitives by the Texas Police. One option is to submit a tip through the DPS website, selecting the fugitive about whom they have information and then clicking the link below their photo. The other option is to send a tip via the agency's Facebook account by clicking on the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (in the “About” section).
So far in 2025, the Texas DPS and other agencies have arrested 63 fugitives, sex offenders, and wanted undocumented immigrants in the state. According to their data, of those detained, 26 had a history of sexual offenses and 13 were undocumented. Rewards amounting to $41,000 were offered for tips that led to the arrests.
In recent weeks, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested citizens from Cuba with convictions for sexual offenses, in several cases involving minors.
During the “Dirtbag Operation” by ICE in Florida, more than 200 immigrants with backgrounds in sexual crimes were arrested, including an unspecified number of Cuban citizens. Authorities presented the profiles of five migrants from the island among those arrested in the raids and announced their imminent deportation.
