A Cuban grandmother has touched hundreds of users on social media after sharing her joy at receiving an unexpected gift. It was sent by her son from abroad: a small oil stove.

This product holds great value amid the energy crisis that Cuba is experiencing, where the population endures long power outages every day and lacks liquefied gas to prepare food, forcing them to cook with charcoal and even firewood.

In the video posted by Ana Laura Ivizate (@laury_luci_cami) on Instagram, the lady smiles excitedly as she shows the small stove and comments, "My little one sent this to me so I don't have to light the charcoal at 6:30 am."

The Cuban grandmother is happy with this simple token of affection. "Now with this, I can make warm milk, a tortilla, coffee, and at least I don't have to work so hard. This is not easy! Things were tough, but now with this gift, things are getting better.”

Her testimony reflects the harsh reality of thousands of families on the island, who endure blackouts of up to 20 hours a day and have no means to cook their food. The woman received a second gift from a social media user who was moved after watching her amusing video.

For over five years, Cuba has been facing an ongoing electricity crisis due to the deterioration of thermal plants, a lack of fuel, and poor management by the regime. In this context, a simple oil stove becomes a symbol of relief and hope.
