A Cuban resident in the United States shared his bitter experience after helping some family members who recently arrived from Cuba to settle in Miami. The testimony, shared by the Instagram profile La Familia Cubana Clips, has gone viral on social media for its tone of frustration and warning to other migrants.

The man, whose identity was not revealed, claimed to have spent 34,000 dollars to bring his niece, her two children, and her husband out of Mexico, who—according to his account—were in danger in that country.

"I spent 34 thousand dollars helping a niece, her two children, and her husband, because they were going to be killed in Mexico. I brought them to live in my house, then I set them up in a small apartment and even built an extra room for the children," he explained.

Despite the effort and money invested, the Cuban stated that his relatives never returned what they promised. “I told them that out of everything spent, they should only give me 15 thousand dollars to deposit into my wife’s account; the rest was a gift from us to them. I still haven't seen a single cent,” he lamented.

In their view, many people who emigrate from Cuba tend to take advantage of the generosity of those who welcome them in the United States.

"Don't help anyone who comes from Cuba here. It has happened to me a few times. Never, ever will they pay you back for everything you've invested," he concluded with evident disillusionment.

The testimony has sparked extensive debate among Cubans both on and off the island. While some users commend its sincerity and claim to have experienced similar situations, others criticize the generalization of the behavior of all newcomers.

In recent years, thousands of Cubans have arrived in the United States after navigating dangerous migration routes through Central America and Mexico, seeking to escape the economic and political crisis afflicting the island.

However, as this case reflects, coexistence and support among compatriots in exile do not always result in gratitude or harmony.
