Three people were injured, one of them critically, following an accident that occurred on the roadway known as La Arenera, between the towns of La Campana and Hanabanilla, in the municipality of Manicaragua, Villa Clara province.

According to a report by the Cuban News Agency, the incident occurred when a 250cc motorcycle collided with a moped, resulting in injuries of varying severity to the occupants of both vehicles.

The president of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power, Madelaine Hernández García, confirmed that the injured—a woman and two men—received initial medical attention at the La Campana polyclinic and were later transferred to the Arnaldo Milián Castro provincial hospital in Santa Clara, where they remain under observation.

Doctor Yordano Serrano Morales, the clinical deputy director of the hospital center, reported that the patients have multiple fractures in their lower limbs, and that one of them is in serious condition.

Government, health, and police authorities arrived at the accident site to provide assistance and initiate investigations into the causes of the incident, which is said to have occurred at high speed.

This new accident adds to a concerning trend in the province, where, according to official figures, Villa Clara has recorded over 510 traffic accidents in 2025, resulting in 48 fatalities and more than 620 injuries, numbers higher than those recorded the previous year, reported ACN.

Traffic authorities reiterated their call to drivers to respect speed limits, remain attentive on the road, and drive cautiously, in light of the sustained increase in accidents in the central region of the country.

The collision between a motorcycle and a motorbike in Manicaragua, Villa Clara, which resulted in several injuries, adds to a series of serious accidents that have occurred in recent months in different regions of the country. This reflects the deterioration of road conditions, reckless driving, and the lack of control on Cuban highways.

A few weeks ago, a Yutong bus overturned on the National Highway while traveling the route from Mayarí to Havana, veering off the road on a curve and ending up overturned in the ditch.

The accident prompted a significant deployment of emergency services and highlighted the risks of traveling on infrastructure marked by wear and a lack of proper signage.

In another incident that took place in the same province, a car violently crashed into a heavy transport trailer, resulting in a high-speed head-on collision.

The crash was so severe that the vehicle was completely destroyed, causing alarm among witnesses and residents of the area due to the frequency with which such incidents occur on that road.

That same day, another massive accident in Villa Clara involved a bus with passengers, which fell off the road in a mountainous area.

The accounts of the incident agreed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which caused panic among the passengers and highlighted the vulnerability of interprovincial transport.
