The authorities in Guantánamo captured the alleged perpetrator of the double murder that took place in Baracoa, Justo Matos Castillo, who is accused of taking the lives of Yinet Labañino Aosta and Yoeldis Leyva Guilarte, an event that has caused deep dismay in the province.
According to the official page Guantánamo y su Verdad, the detainee is identified as the perpetrator of the crime that occurred on Monday night in a residence located in the area known as La Loma, which is part of the Cabacú Popular Council.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was motivated by a personal and passionate conflict between the attacker and the victims.
Neighbors reported that the man arrived at Yinet's house, where an argument ensued that quickly ended in tragedy.
The regime's spokesperson stated that Matos Castillo was immediately detained and will be prosecuted for the crime of murder.
They also stated that Matos will have to answer to the justice system "in accordance with the seriousness of the events."
The initial reports of the incident indicated that Yinet leaves behind two children: a teenager and a small boy, who have been left orphaned after the crime.
"An irreparable loss and a pain that will forever mark their lives," lamented journalist Yosmany Mayeta on Facebook.
