A couple was found dead in their home near the Miel Bridge, in Baracoa, in the province of Guantánamo, in an event that has shaken the entire city.
The victims were identified as Yinet Labañino and her partner, whose identity has not been revealed, although some sources claim that he was an "elderly man."
According to testimonies from neighbors and close acquaintances, the attack is believed to have been carried out by a man who was romantically linked to Yinet.
The journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada stated that residents described the scene as "devastating"; and that the incident has caused "outrage, sadness, and a deep sense of insecurity in the area."
Yinet leaves behind two children: a teenager and a young boy, who have been left orphaned after the crime.
"It is an irreparable loss and a pain that will forever mark their lives," Mayeta lamented.
Although the authorities have not released official information, the news portal La Tijera reported that unofficially, the person responsible has reportedly been captured.
So far, neither their identity nor details of the investigative process are publicly known.
The case has reignited concerns about gender-based violence and the lack of institutional responses in Cuba regarding such incidents.
In recent hours, hundreds of comments on various social media forums where the violent incident has been reported are demanding justice and concrete actions to protect the victims before it is too late.
