More than two days after the tragic domestic shooting that resulted in the deaths of Cuban Ulises Cabrera González and his wife Susana Rosales Koris in southwest Miami-Dade, numerous questions about what happened still remain.

The police have not clarified whether it was a murder-suicide or a double homicide, and although some reports suggest a possible act of domestic violence, authorities have not officially confirmed any hypothesis.

The family has been tight-lipped with the media and has refused to make any statements, while the neighborhood—usually quiet—remains shocked by an event that completely disrupted the routine of a community where "nothing like this has ever happened."

An afternoon of horror in a peaceful neighborhood

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, shortly after 1:00 p.m., at a residence located at Southwest 170 Terrace and 153rd Court, in the southwest of Miami-Dade County.

The Sheriff's Office of the county responded to an emergency call reporting an injured man inside a residence. Upon arrival, officers found Ulises Cabrera González, 44, and Susana Rosales Koris, 42, both with gunshot wounds.

They were declared dead at the scene by the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue team.

"When our agents arrived at the scene, they found an adult man bleeding and another adult woman who was also bleeding; both had gunshot wounds," said Samantha Choon, spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Department.

According to police sources, there were more people inside the house at the time of the shooting, although authorities have not revealed who they were or what their relationship was with the victims, nor whether any of them directly witnessed the event.

Two shattered lives and a broken family

The couple, according to public records, had been married since 2013. He was originally from Havana, Cuba, and she was from Guatemala. They had been living in that home since at least 2020, according to the county property appraiser's records.

They are survived by two minor children, a girl and a boy.

It has not been specified whether the minors were present in the home during the shooting or what their current situation is. The only certainty is that the tragedy has left a devastated family.

"I'm very saddened. It's a tragedy. There are two children left and a devastated family. It's something lamentable," said Juliana Lescaiule, a local resident, in statements to the local press.

Unconfirmed suspicions

Although some neighbors speculate that it may have been an act of domestic violence – and even that the husband might have shot his wife before taking his own life – none of these versions have been confirmed by the authorities.

"I heard it was a homicide, something that's rare in this area which is very quiet," said Elaine González, another resident of the neighborhood.

Several statements agree that the neighborhood had not recorded similar violent incidents previously.

Telemundo 51 reported that, according to comments from a neighbor, there is speculation that the incident may have been triggered by a domestic conflict, but the Sheriff's Office has not provided details on possible motives nor identified any suspects.

The most recent statement indicates that the investigation is still ongoing and that it is still “too early to confirm whether it was domestic violence.”

What is known so far

Despite the lack of official confirmations, some key facts have been reconstructed:

The shooting occurred on Saturday shortly after 1:00 p.m. at a house located on SW 170 Terrace and 153rd Court, Miami-Dade.

The victims were identified as Ulises Cabrera González (Cuban, 44 years old) and Susana Rosales Koris (Guatemalan, 42 years old).

Both were found dead from gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene by rescue teams.

They had been residing on the property since at least 2020 and had been married since 2013.

-They had two minor children who have been left orphaned.

There were more people in the house during the incident, but their identities are unknown.

The family has avoided any contact with the press.

The authorities have not confirmed whether it was a murder-suicide, a homicide, or domestic violence.

The neighborhood is considered a quiet area, with no history of violent crimes.

What happened this weekend in southwest Miami-Dade is a tragedy whose human consequences are devastating, especially for the two orphaned children left in this case.

Despite the suspicions and unofficial reports circulating, the cause of the shooting remains unclear, and the authorities have not issued any definitive statement.

The family's secrecy, the lack of official statements, and the fact that the investigation is still in its early stages leave many questions unanswered.
