In the midst of increasing international isolation and the new wave of sanctions imposed by Washington, the ruling Nicolás Maduro delivered another one of his most aggressive and delusional speeches this Thursday, claiming that Venezuela is ready to confront the United States militarily.

"In these times, we must be like warriors, with one eye wide open and the other as well. Working, producing, building, always functioning and ready to knock the teeth out of the North American empire if necessary, from the homeland of Bolívar," exclaimed Maduro during a televised event with members of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.

The message comes in the context of increasing tension with the United States, following recent sanctions by the Trump Administration against the so-called “narco-nephews” of his wife Cilia Flores and several oil companies accused of funding the Chavista regime.

Maduro once again resorted to the discourse of anti-imperialism and the defense of sovereignty, while the country faces one of its worst economic and humanitarian crises. In his speech, he called for "absolute unity" among Venezuelans in the face of what he described as "a total war by the empire and its lackeys."

"There is no sanction or blockade that can stop the people of Bolívar. If the empire takes action against us, they will know that Venezuela does not surrender," Maduro said defiantly.

The chavista regime has intensified in recent months the joint military exercises with Russia, Iran, and China, presenting them as a show of strength against the United States.

The president also ordered the high military command to maintain a "maximum alert" in response to the U.S. naval deployment off the coast of Venezuela, as part of Operation Southern Lance, which Washington claims is aimed at combatting drug trafficking and oil smuggling.
