A Cuban woman living in the United States has created a buzz on TikTok by showcasing everything she is packing for her upcoming trip to Cuba. In the video, posted by user Karen María (@karenmariaprez), dozens of products are meticulously arranged on the floor: from food and hygiene items to medicines, supplements, sweets, and gifts.
"Preparations for my trip to Cuba", the creator wrote in the clip, which quickly filled with comments from other Cubans who are going through the same process (and the same stress).
“Here I am right now, may God take us and bring us back safe always,” commented one user. Another chuckled, “I have seven suitcases, haha, beautiful journey,” while someone else admitted: “It's stressful from the moment you know you're going, even if you have a whole plane. But the joy of being there is priceless.”
Amid the enthusiasm, there were also those who questioned the need to carry so many items. "With all due respect, it's not necessary; in Cuba, there is that and more," remarked a netizen, although most agreed that bringing aid and gifts for family remains an essential part of every trip.
Karen herself responded calmly to several comments, making it clear that each purchase is backed by love and sacrifice: “The best feeling is being able to help the family,” she wrote.
Amid nostalgia, emotion, and humor, the video perfectly summarizes what many Cubans abroad feel before returning to the Island: a mix of nerves, excitement, and the everlasting need to fill their suitcases with a piece of the world that they now call home.
