A serious traffic accident that occurred in the city of Moa, in the province of Holguín, resulted in images that have caused a stir on social media; however, fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The incident occurred on Guillermo Luis General Hospital Avenue, one of the busiest roads in the municipality.
According to what was reported by the user Yenier Cobas on Facebook, a truck belonging to the company Womy ended up crashing into the wall of the Directorate of Raw Materials.
"An accident on the hospital avenue when a Womy truck crashed into the Materia Prima fence. No injuries, just material damage," wrote Cobas, who added that the vehicle was coming "from the center of Moa" and that the driver may not have been able to turn due to brake failure.
The shared images show the extent of the impact, with the front of the truck completely destroyed, concrete blocks scattered on the ground, and a visibly leaning pole after the collision. The scene reflects the violence of the crash, which could have had much more severe consequences.
Testimonials gathered at the scene suggest that the vehicle was traveling at a considerable speed when it lost control, presumably due to a mechanical failure in the braking system, which prevented the driver from maneuvering in time.
Although the accident only caused material damage, the incident brings back the concern of many Cubans regarding the technical condition of vehicles, road safety, and the daily risks faced on the country's roads, where a mechanical failure can mean the difference between life and death.
So far, the authorities are still assessing the causes of the accident. In the meantime, in Moa, there remains the shock and the image of a collision that, fortunately, did not end in tragedy.
