Actors and television figures on the island reacted with sadness and astonishment this Saturday to the news of the passing of actor Raúl Enríquez.

The actor Edwin Fernández described Enríquez as an “excellent actor and director”, with a straightforward character, who loves jokes and good times.

Fernández Collado stated that despite becoming a critic of the Cuban regime after emigrating, Enríquez upheld his friendship through thick and thin, regardless of any external insults… those insults for thinking and expressing himself 'differently,' for whatever reason, and with anyone.

"Troublemaker, tantrum-thrower, lover of jokes and good times, excellent ACTOR AND DIRECTOR, and straightforward: 'To call a spade a spade' is his motto," Fernández described him.

The actor Hamlet Paredes Grau, who worked with Enríquez on the telenovela Ojo de agua, which will soon premiere on Cuban television, also shared a heartfelt farewell.

“Back there you are, and I think of you, my brother... today I woke up to some very sad news. Asere, you have left us, Raúl Enríquez, just a few days before the premiere of the telenovela Ojo de Agua, a project to which you dedicated so much. A character so beautiful, so lovely. A big hug to the team of Ojo de Agua and to your lovely family... my hand and a hug...”, wrote Paredes Grau.
