A video shared on TikTok by the user @yudeisimartinez5, known as La Rubia, has moved dozens of Cubans both on and off the island. In the footage, a family reunites amidst tears, shouts, and emotion, as a father embraces his son after eight years of not being able to see him. It's a hug that says it all.
“After eight years, my brother is back to see the family and I, of course, couldn't miss it”, wrote the creator alongside the video, accompanied by hearts and smiling faces. The moment captures the reunion filled with tears, laughter, and hugs, as everyone celebrates the arrival of the family member to their hometown.
The images also capture the moment when the brother embraces his father, clearly moved. They merge into a long hug, unable to hold back their tears after so many years apart. “Your dad,” commented a follower upon seeing the scene, which reflects the nostalgia of thousands of Cuban families divided by emigration.
The comments on the video quickly filled with messages of love and blessings. "So happy for you, wishing you success," wrote one user. "A thousand blessings, my friend," added another. "How lovely," commented a close friend, while others expressed their excitement with hearts and crying emojis.
The video, set to the song "Maldita distancia" by Bebeshito, reflects one of the most common and painful realities among Cubans: the long family separations caused by emigration. In recent years, these types of recorded reunions shared on social media have become increasingly common, turning into small testimonies of love, uprooting, and hope that connect—if only through a screen—the Cubans inside and outside the island.
