Cuban content creator Víctor Manuel Santana García, known on social media as @seovitti_, shared with his followers how he prepares for Christmas in Cuba, a celebration that, according to him, "is not a strong tradition nor is it celebrated in every household" on the island.
Santana explained that he recently suffered the effects of chikungunya, a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes that left visible lesions on his skin.
He showed the rash that still affects him and, without saying a word about it, evoked a health situation that many Cubans are experiencing due to the chikungunya epidemic affecting the country.
Despite the discomfort and the difficult economic situation that most households are experiencing, the young man decided to keep the Christmas spirit alive. He demonstrated how he set up his little tree, which is over a decade old, adorned with old decorations that are full of sentimental value.
"There are people who have kept the tradition, and many of us like to have at least one little Christmas decoration at home," he/she commented.
The video by @seovitti_ reflects the reality of many Cuban families who, amidst blackouts, illness, and shortages, try to maintain a bit of joy and hope during the December holidays.
