The Dominican YouTuber Dany Pérez, known as Destino Tolk, was able to have a conversation with the Cuban presenter Frank Abel Gómez-Bernal, who remains detained in a facility of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the United States, awaiting a resolution regarding his immigration status.
“I will always be here to help you,” Destino assured, visibly moved, after the call he had with his friend. He explained that the conversation took place in the days leading up to Christmas, a particularly sensitive time for both of them.
On a date like this, close to Christmas, a family occasion, it is not easy to be in prison. I spoke with him and conveyed courage and strength, because the last thing lost is hope. It's tough to talk to someone you care about and know they are in this situation, with an uncertain and extremely complicated future, said the content creator on his YouTube channel.
Destino remembered that a year ago, on the eve of the Christmas holidays, they had recorded a program in which Frank Abel nostalgically recalled the celebrations in Cuba.
However, he regretted that in recent days some users have been sharing snippets of that video "to add fuel to the fire and worsen his situation", in reference to the criticism and rumors on social media about the possible deportation of the popular Cuban communicator.
The influencer described Frank Abel as “a sensitive, calm man who has gone through many difficult situations since arriving in this country,” pointing out that the emotional toll has affected his stability.

“I am accompanying his case alongside a lawyer, but I cannot provide details because we are in the midst of the process,” clarified Destino and reiterated his unconditional support for the Cuban: “I will always be here. Frank Abel can count on a friend, without any hidden intentions.”
So far, there has been no information regarding whether the presenter could be deported to Cuba, but his close circle is confident that he can remain in the United States and resolve his legal situation.
