The Cuban content creator Danay Salas, known on Instagram as @danay5197, touched her followers by sharing a video in which she demonstrates how she kept the spirit of Santa Claus alive for her twin daughters, despite the economic challenges.
"A Cuban mother keeping the imagination of my twins alive, making them believe that Santa Claus exists, that it was he who brought them the gifts. I spent a month gathering things for each little bag, but the most important thing I achieved was that smile of theirs and the big hug they gave each other," the young mother said excitedly.
In the video, Salas explains that he couldn't find wheat flour —the traditional white flour usually used to simulate Santa's footprints—, but he found a creative alternative: corn flour. With it, he drew the magical footprints on the ground so that his daughters would believe that the legendary figure had passed through their home.
"We don't need much to be happy; with what we have, we can," wrote the Cuban woman, as she showed how her little girls woke up excited to see the small gifts, even without a Christmas tree.
The gesture has been applauded by many Cuban users, who highlighted the tenderness and effort of the mother to keep the Christmas spirit alive in a country where scarcity and high prices make it almost impossible to celebrate normally.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, is a reminder of the power of imagination and maternal love even in the toughest times.
In the midst of a crisis affecting millions of Cuban households, Danay Salas's message resonates strongly: the magic of Christmas can still shine brightly with the little that we have.
