A party held in an Airbnb rental in Miami Gardens ended in tragedy early Friday morning when masked men opened fire, leaving two people dead — including a teenager — and another seriously injured.
According to the Miami Gardens Police, officers responded to a call about a shooting around 12:45 a.m. in the area of the 1900 block of Northwest 175th Street, reported Telemundo.
Upon arrival, they found three individuals with gunshot wounds inside the residence, where a celebration was taking place with about 30 people in attendance.
The preliminary investigation indicates that three men wearing masks entered the house and opened fire without any discussion.
"There was no fight in progress. They were not attending the party," explained police spokesperson Delgado, as quoted by local media.
After the attack, the suspects fled in an unknown direction. So far, the police do not have a description of a vehicle involved, nor have they reported any arrests.
The Miami-Dade Firefighters arrived at the scene and transported two of the victims by helicopter to a local hospital, while the third was taken by land ambulance.
Subsequently, authorities confirmed the death of an adult man and a teenager.
The case remains under investigation as the police seek the public's assistance in providing information that could help identify those responsible for this violent attack, which occurred during the Christmas season and once again highlights concerns about safety at private parties and rental properties for events in South Florida.
