An alleged thief was captured by residents of the Havana municipality of San Miguel del Padrón.

According to the independent media Cubanet, which circulated an image of the event, “many demanded that the police not release him, claiming that in similar cases the detainees quickly return to the streets.”

The thief was arrested after several robberies in the area, including in laundry drying areas, a water pump, and other items, the information specifies.

The images depict what is already being seen in many similar cases: some attempting to take matters into their own hands, shouts of "don't give him any more," and then the tension with the police in the usual scene of impunity.

Cubanet said that it omitted the most violent images of the lynching attempt, which it sees as evidence of the degeneration of Cuban society.

A few months ago, another alleged thief was nearly lynched by residents of Centro Habana after being caught inside a home in the early hours of the morning.
