A video posted by the Cuban Yisileyva (@yisileyva27) has deeply touched thousands of users on TikTok. In the footage, recorded from the airport, her little boy can be seen leaving with his father heading to Cuba to meet his grandmother, while she stays in the United States. "I knew I was strong enough when I saw my son leave without me for another country to meet my mom", the young mother wrote about the video, which has garnered hundreds of thousands of views and comments.

The clip, accompanied by soft music and a blend of sadness and pride, reflects one of the harsh realities faced by many migrant families: having to separate from their children so they can reconnect with their roots and loved ones. In the comments, Yisileyva explained that she could not travel because her residency has not yet been approved and that she decided to let him go with his father so that his mother could meet her grandson for the first time.

The reactions were immediate. “Wow, what a way to cry, I have no strength to separate from my child,” wrote one user. Another shared: “I also sent mine; she celebrated her three years with my mom and her sister. It was the hardest thing, but it was worth it.” The messages echoed with the same tone of empathy: “Only strong mothers can do that out of love,” commented someone else.

The creator herself responded emotionally to several messages, confessing through tears: “I left quickly so he wouldn't see me cry, we had never been apart,” and in another she added: “It was difficult for me to let him go, but I can't be selfish”. She also assured that her son enjoyed the trip and that, despite the emptiness she feels, it comforts her to know that his mother was able to hold him for the first time.

Among the comments, many women shared similar experiences, creating a chain of stories about love and sacrifice. “I went through this when my baby was 9 months old. He went to Cuba with his dad, and it was the hardest thing I've ever faced, but thank God we made the trip together, all three of us,” shared one user. Another summed up the general sentiment with a phrase that many repeated: “Loving also means letting go and trusting.”

The video by @yisileyva27 has become a symbol of the unconditional love of Cuban mothers living far away. It serves as a reminder that, although distance can be painful, sometimes true love also means letting go, with the hope of a happier reunion.
