“God does exist, and nothing is impossible for Him.” This is how the video begins that the Cuban Yuliana (@yulianamr52) shared on TikTok, where she tells the story of her father and her older sister, who were separated by distance and circumstances for over four decades. The young woman grew up seeing a black and white photo of a little girl with her father in her home, unaware that this image represented a lost part of her own family.
“I always grew up in my dad's house looking at a picture of a beautiful girl with her father,” she shares. “When I was old enough to understand, he explained to me that she was my sister, who lived in Czechoslovakia. He went there to work from 1970 to 1980.” During her childhood, Yuliana listened to the love stories between her father and that foreign woman with whom he had a daughter before returning to Cuba. “When he showed me the photos and letters, I saw the sadness in his eyes for not knowing about his daughter, his firstborn.”
The father, upon returning to Cuba, brought back a very special memory: his wife's wedding dress. “No one was allowed to touch it,” Yuliana recalled. “When I turned 15, my dad gifted it to me, and I transformed it to my liking, but knowing that this dress had a story behind it.” Despite the passage of the years, her father never lost hope of finding his daughter. He tried everything: letters, phone calls, contacts, even writing to radio stations. When the Internet arrived, Yuliana and her family continued the search in Facebook groups, but with no results.
Everything changed just three months ago. “My dad called me and said he had found my sister,” he recounted. In the midst of a power outage, while checking social media profiles, they came across a woman who was using another name and lived in Dublin. “He was shaken upon seeing her photos. He knew it was her. He confirmed she was his daughter when he found his ex-wife among the friends, and her profile had the same wedding photo that has been hanging on my dad's wall for years.”
The reunion began with a simple message. “He wrote to her fearing that she would reject him, but thank God her mom always explained that he left against his will. She replied with a ‘hi, dad’”, Yuliana said excitedly. Since then, father and daughter talk every day and are planning to reunite soon. “Now I not only have a beautiful sister, but also three nephews and two grandchildren. We couldn't be happier.”
The video moved thousands of users, who filled the comments with messages of faith and emotion. “I’m here crying over this story,” wrote one follower. “God is great,” “God's timing is perfect,” and “this shows that miracles exist” were some of the reactions. Many agreed that Yuliana’s story is proof that faith, patience, and family love can overcome time and distance.
