Miguel Díaz-Canel led an event this Saturday at the Anti-Imperialist Tribune in Havana, where he delivered a passionate speech in defense of Nicolás Maduro's regime, who was detained hours earlier along with his wife, Cilia Flores, during a U.S. military operation on Venezuelan territory.

The call, organized urgently by the Cuban regime, gathered militants from the Communist Party, students, and workers mobilized by official organizations in a demonstration that the Government described as a show of revolutionary solidarity in response to the capture of the chavista leader.

Díaz-Canel, visibly agitated, described the U.S. incursion as an act of "state terrorism," a "cowardly, criminal, and treacherous" action that culminates with a Latin American president "kidnapped."

In his speech, filled with Fidelista and Martí rhetoric, the Cuban leader asserted that Washington seeks to "impose neofascism on the world" under Donald Trump's administration.

“The land of Bolívar is sacred, and an attack on its children is an attack on all the worthy children of Our America,” exclaimed Díaz-Canel, amid cheers of “Homeland or death!” from the attendees.

In a belligerent tone, the Cuban leader promised that Cuba "will not leave Venezuela alone." He asserted that he and the Cuban people are willing to "shed their own blood and even give their own lives" to defend their South American ally, "but at a very high price," he warned.

During his remarks, Díaz-Canel accused Donald Trump of being "the greatest threat to peace on the American continent."

He reiterated his total support for the Chavista regime and called for the unity of progressive forces in Latin America and the international community, in the face of what he described as "an imperial and fascist offensive against humanity."

According to Díaz-Canel, the United States government has been building a case of narco-terrorism against Maduro for months, and they have been unable to present even a single piece of evidence to the world because "such evidence does not exist."

The speech, broadcast by Cuban state television, was interpreted as a political strategy to reinforce the narrative against the United States amid the internal crisis facing Cuba, characterized by blackouts, shortages, and social discontent.

Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores are in U.S. custody aboard a military vessel heading to New York, where they will face justice on charges of drug trafficking and criminal conspiracy brought by the Department of Justice.
