Nicolás Maduro and his wife have just landed at Stewart International Airport in New York, located in Orange County, northwest of New York City, according to information released by CBS News.
According to Flight Radar, a Boeing 757 arriving from Guantánamo landed at that terminal at 4:32 PM (local time).
Several sources stated that the plane was carrying the former president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
The information comes following prior reports regarding the itinerary. Maduro, who—according to CNN—was aboard the USS Iwo Jima headed to New York, would make a brief stop at the U.S. military base in Guantanamo Bay before being transferred to that city.
CNN attributed that planning to two sources familiar with the plans and described it as a logistical measure to expedite the transfer.
In that same context, President Donald Trump stated this Saturday that Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, "were heading to New York" to face a case in a federal court, and that both "were charged in New York."
