The ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel demanded that the U.S. ensure the "immediate release" of Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.
“Our Revolutionary Government strongly condemns the military aggression of the United States against Venezuela. We categorically reiterate Cuba's unwavering support and solidarity with the sister Bolivarian Republic and its government,” Díaz-Canel said on X, where he shared a statement from the regime's foreign ministry.
"We demand the immediate release by U.S. authorities of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and his partner Cilia Flores," he added.
Díaz-Canel urged the international community “not to allow an aggression of this nature and severity against a Member State of the UN to go unpunished, and to prevent the legitimate, sitting president of a sovereign country from being seized through a military operation without facing consequences.”
The MINREX statement, for its part, expresses that "this is a brutal imperialist and fascist aggression with goals of domination."
He also asserted that the U.S. "aims to reassert American hegemonic ambitions over Our America, rooted in the Monroe Doctrine, with the goal of gaining unrestricted access and control over the natural wealth of Venezuela and the region. It also seeks to intimidate and dominate the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean."
Earlier this Saturday, Díaz-Canel led an event at the Anti-Imperialist Tribune in Havana, where he delivered a passionate speech in defense of Nicolás Maduro's regime.
The call, urgently organized by the Cuban regime, brought together members of the Communist Party, students, and workers mobilized by official organizations in a demonstration that the government described as a response of revolutionary solidarity following the capture of the Chavista leader.
Díaz-Canel, visibly agitated, described the American incursion as an act of "state terrorism," a "cowardly, criminal, and malicious" action that culminates in a "kidnapped" Latin American president.
In his speech, laden with fidelista and martiana rhetoric, the Cuban leader asserted that Washington aims to “impose neofascism on the world" under Donald Trump's administration.
"The land of Bolívar is sacred, and an attack on its children is an attack on all the worthy children of Our America," exclaimed Díaz-Canel, amid cheers of "¡Patria o muerte!" from the attendees.
In a belligerent tone, the Cuban leader promised that Cuba "will not leave Venezuela alone." He asserted that he and the Cuban people are willing to "give their own blood and even their own lives" to defend their South American ally, "but at a very high price," he warned.
Maduro arrives in the U.S.
The arrival of Nicolás Maduro in the state of New York occurred this Saturday on a U.S. Air Force plane that landed at Stewart National Airbase at 4:32 PM local time after taking off from Guantánamo.
The flight was a Boeing 757 coming from Guantánamo, arriving just northwest of New York City.
The aircraft's departure occurred amidst a large deployment of FBI, DEA, and National Guard forces, as seen in the video shared on Fox News. The plane's descent was slow and involved dozens of federal agents.
CNN had reported that Maduro, then on board the USS Iwo Jima, would make a brief stop in Guantánamo as part of a logistical plan to expedite his transfer to New York.
Previously, Donald Trump had disseminated images of Maduro chained and blindfolded aboard the USS Iwo Jima, stating that the Venezuelan leader was being transported "to face charges."
Regarding the judicial process, Maduro is expected to face charges of drug and arms trafficking in a federal court in Manhattan next week.
