The early morning of Sunday, December 28, ended in tragedy for a young Cuban living in Brazil. Yosmar Reve Camacho, 32 years old and originally from Havana, died in Macapá, the capital of the state of Amapá, after suffering a severe neck injury during an argument with his partner, according to consistent reports from Brazilian media and official sources.

The incident occurred in an apartment complex located on Macedonia Avenue, in the Renascer II neighborhood. Neighbors alerted the Military Police after hearing screams and sounds of a fight.

Upon arrival, the agents found Yosmar lying on the ground with intense bleeding. Teams from the Fire Department and SAMU attempted to assist him, but he died at the scene due to the severity of the injury.

According to local reports, the couple had been consuming alcohol when the argument started. During the altercation, Yosmar was reportedly struck in the neck by a shard of a broken beer bottle. The Scientific Police (Politec) conducted an investigation at the scene, and the body was transferred to the Medical Legal Institute (IML).

The main suspect is Iraelson Pereira Ramos, known by her social name Kelly Ramos, 33 years old, who was arrested at the scene and presented to the authorities.

During the custody hearing held on Monday, December 29, a judge in Amapá granted provisional release to the accused, considering that, at this initial stage, the requirements for preventive detention were not met. Kelly will respond to the proceedings while at liberty, under precautionary measures, local media such as SelesNafe.com and Portal Alyne Kayser reported.

The defense argues that the events occurred in the context of legitimate self-defense. According to lawyer Kairon Leone, the accused reacted to an immediate physical aggression during a heated emotional discussion and there was no prior intent to kill.

Versions collected by the Police indicate that, after the incident, Kelly tried to control Yosmar's bleeding with a towel until the emergency services arrived. The Military Police also stated that the accused showed no apparent injuries, cooperated with the officers, and it was not necessary to use handcuffs.

The Civil Police continues the investigation to clarify all the circumstances of the case. Meanwhile, the death of Yosmar, a Cuban who had made his life in Macapá, has caused dismay, reigniting the debate on violence in romantic relationships, migration, and the risks of vulnerability away from one's country of origin.

Brazilian authorities insist that the process remains open and that any definitive conclusion will depend on the progress of the investigation and expert evidence.
