Wilmer Aguilar, father of the Cuban political prisoner Walnier Luis Aguilar Rivera, denounced this Wednesday in a passionate broadcast on Facebook the abuses and reprisals that his son continues to suffer in prison, to which the regime authorities have transferred him to the province of Sancti Spíritus.

According to the report, the prison guards have now pressured the young man to sign documents against his will, despite suffering from a mental disability.

"My son has a cognitive delay, a brain injury, and after more than four years of this injustice, they are forcing him to sign a document,” declared Wilmer indignantly."

He assured that the political prisoner was moved far from his family to isolate him. “My son doesn't know anyone in that province nor does he have any case there; they took him away just to keep him far from his dad.”

In his message, the father assured that the prison authorities are trying to break the young man's will and warned that if his son decides to stand firm in protest, he will also do so publicly.

If my son stands up, I will stand at 15 and K, he said, referring to the headquarters of the State Council in the Havana neighborhood of Vedado.

Wilmer Aguilar denounced that the Cuban regime is retaliating against the political prisoners from 11J, especially against the most vulnerable.

"They are taking it out on the people for everything that has gone wrong. In this country, no one feels happy, they are abusing the people, and against a young man who has done nothing."

The father recalled that his son has a diagnosed brain injury and that the official documents must be signed solely by him, as the legal guardian.

"I will sign his papers. They don’t have to force him, because he has a brain injury.", she added.

Aguilar also reported that on January 1, a police patrol parked in front of his house while he was spending time with his family, an action he interpreted as a form of harassment and intimidation.

"You do not rest in your wickedness against the people", he said, addressing the authorities of the Ministry of the Interior. "The political prisoners here are the most vulnerable link".

Walnier Luis Aguilar, 24 years old, was sentenced to several years in prison for his involvement in the protests of July 11, 2021 in Havana.

Your case has been documented by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), which granted protective measures to your family in 2025 due to the ongoing threats and reprisals they have faced.

In November, the Embassy of the United States in Cuba publicly denounced the abuse against Walnier and demanded his immediate release, along with that of all political prisoners on the island.

The young dissident has been transferred multiple times to different prisons in the country, including Agüica (Matanzas) and now Sancti Spíritus, a practice that organizations such as the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights (OCDH) describe as a “punishment method” used by the State Security to isolate political prisoners and break their resistance.
