President Donald Trump stated in an interview with FOX that the capture of Nicolás Maduro "was not a difficult decision", which had the support of both Democrats and Republicans, and emphasized that despite this consensus, "nobody had the courage to catch him."
Trump asserted that Maduro killed many people and sent many criminals who were imprisoned, as well as the mentally ill and inmates from psychiatric institutions, to the United States.
"He did many terrible things, but above all, he was a major drug dealer. We clearly saw it: all the boats we intercepted came from Venezuela. Many boats, many drugs, and now very few are still operating. Boats are no longer being found," he noted.
The president also announced agreements with the new Venezuelan authorities following Maduro's departure: the delivery of between 30 and 50 million barrels of oil to be sold at market price, with the proceeds allocated "to the people of Venezuela and the people of the United States."
He also mentioned the purchase of American products and the release of all political prisoners.
Trump interprets these decisions as a sign that "they want peace with Donald Trump."
"We asked them to do it, and they have been excellent, really. Everything we have requested, they have provided us," she assured.
Regarding the operation to capture Maduro, Trump bragged that there were no American casualties, although he acknowledged injuries, including "a couple of brave helicopter pilots" with serious injuries who "are doing fine."
"It was an amazing attack. The other side lost many people, unfortunately. Their house was in the middle of a stronghold with thousands of soldiers, yet we went straight to the center. Who would have thought that could be done without losing anyone? But everything was perfectly planned," he said.
The president compared the intervention in Caracas to "Operation Midnight Hammer" in Iran. He stated that, although both are equally significant, the one in Venezuela "has captured the imagination of the people" due to its audacity and operational details, surpassing other previous military actions.
"Entering a stronghold with thousands of soldiers, landing a helicopter right in the middle, breaking down a steel door because it was a fortified house, advancing while shooting through the hallways, and exiting with the target neutralized in just three minutes," he described.
"Nobody had seen anything like it. The 'safe' house was not so safe, because our men had torches capable of cutting through steel as if it were butter. They didn't have to use them, but they were ready," he emphasized.
Trump, who monitored the operations in real time from Mar-a-Lago, described the rappelling of the helicopters, emphasizing the expertise and equipment of what he referred to as "the best soldiers in the world."
"No one can match us," he/she pointed out.
