The American president Donald Trump stirred up social media again this Saturday by reposting on his Truth Social account an image created by a user, in which he is seen smoking a cigar on a street in Havana.
With the Cuban flag waving in the background and the phrase: “The Finest in the World. Cuban Cigars”, the tenant of the White House appears on a street in the Cuban capital surrounded by palm trees and almendro trees.

The image, originally posted on X (Twitter) by the user @ChristineYeder1, was accompanied by the message: “It certainly would”, and was shared by Trump with no additional comment.
However, its dissemination sparked a wave of political interpretations amid the escalating tensions between Washington and Havana, following the capture of Nicolás Maduro and the recent warnings from the U.S. administration to the Cuban regime.
The gesture was interpreted by analysts as a mix of symbolic provocation and a veiled message: a display of power and control at a time when the White House demands that Cuba "negotiate before it's too late."
The image —which evokes the icons of tourism in the "paradise island"— seems to play with the irony of a U.S. president enjoying the most recognizable symbol of the island, while his administration intensifies diplomatic and economic pressures against the regime of Miguel Díaz-Canel.
On social media, Trump supporters celebrated the publication as a "sign of victory" against communism, while opponents labeled it as "imperial provocation."
The post, with thousands of interactions in just a few hours, confirms that Trump continues to use visual communication as a political weapon and that, in his strategy, Cuba has once again become a symbolic stage for projecting strength and hemispheric dominance.
