The Republican senator from Florida Rick Scott stated that the days of the Cuban regime are numbered.
“President Trump is right. These are the final days of the Díaz-Canel regime, of the Castro regime in Cuba. There will be no more oil for Cuba, there will be no more money for Cuba,” commented the senator on X.
"They must surrender and allow the Cuban people to have the government they deserve: a democracy and the freedom that was taken from them by the Castro regime decades ago," he added.
Scott's words come after Trump sent a strong message to the Cuban government on Sunday, announcing the immediate end of the shipment of oil and money from Venezuela, a source of economic support that the Island has relied on for years.
In a post published on his social media Truth Social, Trump stated firmly: “There will be no more oil or money for Cuba: zero! I strongly suggest that they reach an agreement before it's too late.”
In his post, Trump recalled that for decades, Cuba had heavily depended on Venezuelan oil and financial resources in exchange for "security services" provided by Havana to Venezuelan leaders Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro.
A few days ago, Scott assured that the Cuban regime could come to an end in 2026 or 2027, as a direct consequence of the collapse of Chavismo in Venezuela and a wave of political changes that, according to him, will spread throughout the region.
In statements to Fox News, Scott asserted that the capture of the Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces marks the beginning of a process of hemispheric transformation.
"This is the beginning of changing Venezuela, then we will fix Cuba, Nicaragua will also be resolved, and next year we will have a new president in Colombia. Democracy is returning to this hemisphere," he expressed.
The senator recalled that he had already warned in 2024, during an appearance on the 60 Minutes program, that Maduro's days were "numbered" and that his departure from power—whether due to internal or external factors—would have a direct impact on the Cuban regime, which he described as dependent on Venezuelan support.
