The Cuban-American congresswoman María Elvira Salazar publicly reacted to the ultimatum issued by President Donald Trump against the Cuban regime and stated that the current moment marks a turning point for Havana.

From her account on X, the legislator stated that "President Trump is right" and that for decades "the Cuban dictatorship has survived by exporting repression, sending its intelligence and security forces to support dictators in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and other places in exchange for oil and money."

In his message, Salazar warned that the Cuban leadership should closely observe what has recently happened in Venezuela. "Havana should carefully analyze what has occurred with Maduro. That is the fate that awaits dictators and their accomplices," he wrote.

The Congresswoman concluded her post with a phrase that quickly went viral: "Tyranny has an expiration date. Time moves on."

His statements came after Trump posted a message on Truth Social with a harsh tone towards the Havana regime.

In his post, the leader recalled that "Cuba survived for many years thanks to the large amounts of oil and money coming from Venezuela" and that, in return, Havana provided "security services" to the last two Venezuelan dictators.

Trump emphasized that most of those Cubans died in last week's U.S. attack and stated that "Venezuela no longer needs protection from the bullies and extortionists who held them hostage for so many years."

In the same message, he declared: "There will be no more oil or money for Cuba. Nothing!", and advised the regime to "reach an agreement before it's too late".

The exchange has raised political tension between Washington and Havana against the backdrop of the recent capture of Nicolás Maduro during a U.S. military operation in Caracas, in which dozens of Venezuelan and Cuban soldiers were killed.

Salazar's warning was not limited to this message.

A day earlier, the congresswoman had already addressed direct words to the Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel, warning him that justice will come "sooner or later".

In a message also shared on X, he said: "As a hand-picked dictator, you will have to answer for all the atrocities that you and your predecessors inflicted on the Cuban people."

Salazar listed a series of facts that, in his opinion, must be judged: "For the cold-blooded shooting down of the Hermanos al Rescate planes. For the executions. For the political prisoners. For the families destroyed and forced into exile. For a country hijacked for decades by fear and repression."

María Elvira responded to the Cuban ruler, who replied to Trump's ultimatum with a belligerent message, stating that "no one tells us what to do" and that Cuba is prepared to defend itself "to the last drop of blood."
