The Cuban reggaeton artist El Chacal has once again ignited social media with a video posted from the studio, where he announced that he is working on a new version of one of his major hits from two decades ago. The clip, which quickly went viral on TikTok, sparked a wave of nostalgia among his followers and made it clear that his musical comeback could "put more than one artist from the new generation to sleep."

“Gentlemen, 20 years later... I don't know what got into me, but I’d like to sing this song again. Tell me if I should do it or not. It sounds like this,” says the artist in the video, before presenting a refreshed version of his classic “Se va de control,” originally with Baby Lores. He then adds proudly: “Twenty years have passed. Thank you for the support, we are working on the production. Frank Palacio on the machine.”

In a matter of hours, the post was flooded with thousands of comments and reactions that mixed enthusiasm, nostalgia, and humor. One of the most frequently repeated messages came from a fan who joked, "If El Chacal returns, Bebeshito is going to sleep," clearly referencing the current wave of Cuban urban artists, like Bebeshito, who dominate the platforms today.

Others followers celebrated the gesture with affection and excitement: "Surely, you are the best and most complete", commented a user. "Oh my God, it’s been 20 years since I sang it at the top of my lungs", wrote another. Many agreed that the song is a generational anthem of Cuban reggaeton and that hearing it again would be "like traveling through time."

Some were also surprised when doing the math: “What do you mean 20 years? My goodness, I just turned 40 and didn't even realize it,” said a follower with a laugh. “I was 9 years old and sang that at the top of my lungs,” commented another. Amid all the humor, there were also requests for collaborations: “Chacal and Yakarta should make a new album with the songs from 20 years ago,” asked one user. “Bring Lore on board, that would be history again,” added another.

The song "Se va de control" was one of the biggest hits of the early days of Cuban reggaeton and marked the careers of El Chacal and Baby Lores. Two decades later, the artist promises to bring it back with a modern production, while preserving the essence that made it a classic.

If the enthusiasm on TikTok serves as a barometer, the return of El Chacal promises to "get out of control" once again.
