Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugás shared an emotional and pride-filled post showcasing his home in Las Vegas, the result—by his own words—of a decade of sacrifices, faith, and hard work.
"Twelve long years of this story. I love my apartment in Miami, but my house in Las Vegas is so special because of the history behind it. It was built with sweat, blood, and tears," the champion wrote on his Instagram account, alongside several photos of his residence and luxury cars.
Ugás recalled the most challenging moment of his professional and personal life when he arrived in Las Vegas at the age of 30 without a clear direction. “I hadn't fought for almost two and a half years; I was coming from a bankruptcy that I had to declare in order to start over, and I hadn't achieved anything in my life. I stayed at a friend's house for a week, then I moved into a hotel. I didn’t have a car, so to get to training, I took shared Ubers with other people,” he shared.
The boxer, who has proudly represented the Cuban community in the United States, said that during those tough times, he never lost faith. "I had a dream and was willing to work hard and give my all for it. When I returned to Miami, I would tell my friends about what I was experiencing, and we would laugh together about those crazy moments," he recalled.
Over the years, Ugás climbed the ranks in professional boxing, eventually achieving world titles and international recognition, but he insists that he hasn't forgotten where he came from. "If you're 30 years old and feel like you haven't done anything special with your life yet, have faith and keep working, keep studying, keep pushing yourself. I was in the same place," he advised.
The athlete wanted to make it clear that his post is not meant to show off, but to inspire those going through difficult times. “I share my story not to make you jealous, but to motivate you, to inspire you. With God's help, clear ideas, hard work, and intelligence, anything is possible. Dreams take many years to achieve. And the harder you work to reach them, the more you will cherish, value, and appreciate them,” he reflected.
Ugás also expressed his gratitude to those who accompanied him on his journey. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me, always thank you to my fans, thank you to my Cuban community, and especially thank you to this country for the opportunities and for freedom,” he wrote before closing with a phrase that summarizes his deepest convictions: “God, Homeland, Life, Freedom.”
In the comments, dozens of followers and colleagues left messages of admiration and pride for their example of resilience and humility.
