The violent death of an 84-year-old man in Quivicán, Mayabeque, has shocked the community amid growing concerns about the increase in violence in Cuba

"Last night, Onofre Amable Arrojo, better known as Chito, was brutally beaten, bound, and hanged in his own home on the Palomo farm, located on the road to Güiro Boñigal, in the municipality of Quivicán, Mayabeque. At 84 years old, he was a hardworking man dedicated to his family," reported on Facebook by Néstor Fernández, a Cuban from Quivicán residing in the U.S.

"It is lamentable how much strength violent crime has gained in Cuba. My deepest condolences go out to his family, and may he rest in eternal peace. Insecurity and danger relentlessly threaten the Cuban family," he added.

The death was confirmed in the comments by neighbors and family members of the deceased.

"My beloved godfather Epd, you will always live in our hearts. I loved you and will carry you in my heart as my second father. Rest in peace, my adored godfather, eternal light for your soul from your goddaughter and family," wrote Odaysi Sánchez in a comment.

On Friday afternoon, a man was found dead near the bridge of the town El Cristo, on the outskirts of Santiago de Cuba, according to reports released by communicator Yosmany Mayeta Labrada.

According to the information received on your Facebook page, the body was found in a wooded area near the bridge.
