The Cuban content creator known on TikTok as @jerez_92, from the profile CUBAneando en PERÚ, went viral after sharing a funny video where he showcases a deeply rooted custom among Cubans: saving nylon bags to reuse them time and time again.
"Cubans are always dragging the underdevelopment," he jokes at the beginning of the clip, as he opens a drawer full of bags he keeps from each visit to the market.
From Peru, the Cuban concluded with laughter and a request to his fans: "Tell me if you also have this 'clave' of bags or jabas." The responses came in quickly.
The video, published in December 2025, has accumulated over 513,000 views, 2,100 comments, and thousands of reactions that reflect both nostalgia and camaraderie.
"A respected Peruvian has his bag to store more bags," commented one user, while another added: "Among third-worlders, we understand each other."
Many Peruvians agreed that they also save bags to use as trash liners or for daily shopping, while others praised the practice of Cubans as a way to recycle.
