The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that his administration has deployed a “huge fleet” to waters near Iran, amid escalating tensions due to the crackdown on protests sweeping the Persian country.

“We have a great force en route to Iran and we will see what happens. I would prefer nothing to occur, but we are watching them very closely,” the president stated to the press aboard Air Force One in an audio clip posted on X.

The statements coincide with reports of movements by the U.S. Navy, including the deployment of the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its strike group to the Indian Ocean.

Trump reiterated that Washington has pressured Tehran over the suppression of protesters and again claimed that, thanks to his intervention, hundreds of recent executions in Iran would have been halted.

The president refrained from specifying whether the United States is seeking a change of leadership in the Islamic country, although he warned that his administration will continue to closely monitor the situation.
