The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Thursday the intention of his administration to submit Miami's official bid to host the World Expo 2035, an event he described as “the new milestone of America's Golden Age.”
The announcement was made by Trump through his social network Truth Social, where he emphasized that Greater Florida "has shown a strong interest in hosting the Expo" and expressed his full support for the proposal.
"Miami Expo 2035 could be the next great milestone of our new Golden Age of America," he wrote.
The president also confirmed that he has appointed Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a native of Miami, to lead the coordination and promotion efforts for the campaign.
“I have appointed Marco Rubio to lead the coordination and advancement efforts for this exciting opportunity to bring the world together,” he stated.
Trump emphasized that organizing the World Expo would create “thousands of jobs” and “billions of dollars in economic growth” for the United States, and he believed that the initiative would strengthen the country’s international leadership.
The president recalled his role in attracting major global events during his first term.
"In my first term as president, I fought to bring the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics to the United States. Now, I have the honor of hosting as the 47th president, alongside America250, the G20 in Doral, and the G7," he stated.
The president stated that he hopes to "win and participate in Expo Miami 2035," highlighting the city's potential as a "global capital of innovation, diversity, and prosperity."
If it materializes, it would be the first time a World Expo is held in the state of Florida. The last universal exposition organized by the United States took place in New Orleans in 1984.
In his post, Trump concluded with a message of confidence in the country's economic future: “This will be another great victory for the United States, an opportunity to showcase the best of our nation to the world. See you in Miami!”
