María Karla Castro, partner of the Cuban reggaeton artist El Chulo (Abel Díaz Rodríguez), broke her silence on social media following the artist's detention by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the United States.
In a story posted on her Instagram account, María Karla thanked everyone who has shown concern for the singer's situation and issued a warning to immigrants who, like him, may be at risk from immigration authorities.
"I want to thank everyone who has been concerned about Abel; I haven't been able to respond. I just ask that those without status take great care, drive carefully, and avoid going out unnecessarily. This can happen to anyone. Blessings," wrote the young woman.
Your message arrives at a particularly difficult time for the family. María Karla and El Chulo became parents just six months ago when they welcomed their son Justin, born in June 2025. On social media, the couple used to share images filled with tenderness and gratitude for this new stage, which is now overshadowed by uncertainty.
The artist was arrested this Thursday, January 22, by ICE, due to a supposed deportation order that has been pending for several years, related to an incident involving a firearm that occurred in the Tampa area. Since then, he has been in immigration custody while authorities evaluate his case.
Maria Karla's words have sparked expressions of solidarity among the singer's followers and the Cuban community in exile. Many have voiced their support for the young mother and her baby, amidst concern for El Chulo's future.
