A Cuban woman moved thousands on TikTok by sharing her difficult experience as a migrant mother. In a video posted from the United States, the creator known as @teylisfitglow revealed that she has not seen her son in three years, as he still remains in Cuba.

“I left Cuba thinking that I would return for my son in a year... and it's been three now”, she wrote about the video, in which she appears preparing to go to work. “From Cuba, one gets an idea, believing that it’s a quick advance, to return... but until you're on this side, you don't understand that the reality is different. Here, everything gets delayed: the laws, the processes... they don't depend only on desire or sacrifice,” she confessed.

The young mother explained that the most painful part has been answering her child when he asks if she already has the papers or when she will be able to go back for him. “You continue to respond with hope, but inside you don’t know when. One leaves Cuba with dreams, but no one tells you how heavy it is to be far from what you love the most. Migrating is not just leaving; it’s learning to live with an absence,” she said.

The testimony quickly went viral and generated hundreds of supportive comments from other Cubans living similar situations. “There are many of us who go through this, it's really tough,” wrote one user. “Don't give up, God is with you,” added another. Many agreed that family separation is one of the hardest parts of the migration process.

"All for a better future for you and your child, thousands of blessings," commented another follower. Teylis's words reflect the feelings of thousands of Cuban mothers who have had to leave their children behind with the ever-present promise of reuniting one day.
