The week starts with two updates in the Cuban informal market: the price of the dollar and the freely convertible currency (MLC) decreases.
After remaining stable at 490 CUP per unit since last Tuesday, as of this Monday morning the US dollar has dropped by five pesos, falling to 485 CUP per dollar, according to the daily report from the independent media elTOQUE.
On the other hand, the Cuban informal foreign exchange market has also seen a decline in the value of the freely convertible currency in recent hours.
The MLC, whose value has indeed fluctuated frequently in recent days, dropped from 410 to 400 CUP.
Exchange Rate Evolution
Without changes, the euro is once again being traded today at 530 CUP. The European currency completes its fifth day without changes.

According to the models from the Observatory of Coins and Finances of Cuba (OMFi), the projections for January anticipated an upward trend:
Dollar: central projection of 465 CUP (range between 454 and 480 CUP).
Euro: projection of 505 CUP (range between 479 and 515 CUP).
MLC: estimated at around 427 CUP (ranging between 398 and 440 CUP).
As January draws to a close, the current values of the two main currencies—with the dollar at 485 CUP and the euro at 530 CUP—reveal that both currencies have exceeded expectations, reinforcing the perception of a market under pressure from uncertainty and mistrust in the Cuban peso.
