The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Wednesday that a “massive armada” is heading towards Iran, in a message posted on Truth Social where he warned that “time is running out” for Tehran to agree to a new nuclear deal.

The official assured that the deployment is led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and is “larger than the one sent to Venezuela” weeks ago.

According to sources from the Pentagon cited by AP News  and The Guardian, the U.S. fleet is conducting multi-day military exercises in the Middle East and has deployed fighter jets, destroyers, and support units in the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea.

The operation, named Iron Resolve, aims to deter the Iranian regime following the failure of nuclear talks and the bloody repression of internal protests.

Trump recalled the U.S. attacks last June against Iranian nuclear facilities and warned that a new offensive would be "much worse" if the regime does not agree to a "fair and nuclear-free" deal.

She is ready, willing, and able to accomplish her mission swiftly and violently if necessary, wrote the president.

Tehran responded to the threats by accusing Washington of "repeating the mistakes of past wars in the Middle East" and warned that any aggression would be regarded as a declaration of total war. The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, dismissed the possibility of resuming negotiations "under threats or blackmail."

Meanwhile, the internal crisis in Iran continues to worsen. According to international media, the regime of the ayatollahs has acknowledged 3,117 deaths in the protests that began in December.

However, according to Time magazine, human rights organizations raise the figure to over 6,000, with some claiming that a massacre may have claimed the lives of more than 30,000 Iranian protesters.

The UN condemned the use of live fire against civilians and warned that the country is experiencing its largest wave of repression since 2019.
