A Cuban who recently returned from the island shared in a video that his entry into the United States was quick and without complications, debunking rumors about alleged immigration penalties for those traveling to Cuba.
“My people, I just got back from Cuba, I went through customs and they didn't even ask me a single question. They didn’t interview me, nothing, they just said: ‘welcome to the United States’,” the traveler recounted in a video posted by the user @keilys.val on TikTok.
The Cuban took the opportunity to send a message of reassurance to those who are afraid to travel to Cuba due to concerns about immigration reprisals. “Unfortunately, there are Cubans who have no family there or nothing to do, and they like to spread fear. But for us who are residents and have no criminal records, we don't have any problems,” he explained.
In recent weeks, rumors have circulated about alleged penalties from the U.S. government against those who frequently travel to Cuba, especially following the tightening of immigration policies towards the island.
However, numerous testimonies like this one dispel those fears and affirm that authorities allow legal residents to enter without difficulties.
The video has gone viral on social media, where many Cuban users shared similar experiences and expressed gratitude for the clarification of the situation to prevent misinformation.
