A Cuban resident abroad had an emotional reunion with her family in Güines, Mayabeque, when she returned to the island to celebrate her father's 69th birthday and surprise him with a visit from her granddaughter, who she hadn't seen in almost three years.
User @iney0790, identified as Yeni T, shared a moment on TikTok titled "Surprise trip for my parents." In the video, she is seen arriving with her young daughter and several suitcases, without notifying anyone. "That day was my dad's birthday; it had been almost three years since he last saw the little girl," she wrote about the images that have touched thousands of users.
The grandfather's reaction was as intense as it was touching. Upon seeing his daughter and granddaughter at the door, he could barely stand. “He had to sit down because it almost overwhelmed him. Out of excitement, he says his legs gave way”, Yeni recounted. Shortly after, the grandmother arrived as well, and her expression said it all: pure surprise and joy.
The video has received hundreds of comments and reactions full of warmth. “What a joy, cousin, this video brought me to tears. You are a wonderful daughter. May God bless you always,” wrote one user. “How nice to enjoy your parents and the happy grandparents. They deserve all the good things,” added another.
Many Cubans abroad identified with the story and shared the nostalgia they feel for the distance. “Nothing like a hug from your loved ones,” commented one follower. “What a way to cry, how tough,” wrote another. There were also those who confessed to feeling “a healthy envy” towards such a sincere and familial reunion.
