The Cuban-American congressman Carlos Giménez celebrated the recent measures taken by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, against the Cuban regime and asserted that they represent “the beginning of the end” of the dictatorship established by Fidel Castro in 1959.

In statements published this Sunday on his X profile, Giménez claimed that the Cuban-American community "is with Trump" and expressed gratitude for his leadership in the diplomatic and economic offensive against Havana.

"President Trump knows that our Cuban-American community stands with him, and we are grateful for his action against the Castro dictatorship. We have waited 67 years for this moment. The end is near!" wrote the congressman from Florida.

The Republican lawmaker also highlighted the determination of the U.S. government in its new strategy towards the island.

“President Trump's actions will speak for themselves. His administration is doing more to dismantle the brutal and anti-American Castro regime than any other in U.S. history,” he added.

Giménez's statements come just days after Trump signed an executive order declaring a national emergency by considering the Cuban regime a threat to the security of the United States, due to its alliances with Russia, China, Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas.

The measure imposes tariffs on countries that supply oil to Cuba and aims to cut off one of the main sources of economic support for Miguel Díaz-Canel's government, amid a context of prolonged blackouts, widespread shortages, and growing social discontent within the island.

The congressman, born in Havana and a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, reiterated his support for the "maximum pressure" policy toward Havana and stated that the exiled community is experiencing a historic moment.

"After more than six decades of oppression, the end of Castroism is closer than ever," he concluded.
